The Victorian SealsWater Polo Club
The Victorian Seals are part of the Australian National Water Polo League (NWPL), providing an elite pathway for talented Victorian athletes.
The Victorian Seals entered the NWPL competition in 2014, seeking to build on the successful legacy of Victoria’s 24 years in the league, while creating a club centred on community involvement and focused on its Victorian club links.
In assisting with their entry to the competition, the Victorian Seals are proudly backed by Water Polo Victoria, along with Victorian water polo clubs acting as members and being represented on the Executive Committee. We thank our partners, 2XU, Monsterpolo, Hydralyte and NEC for their early support as we create an exciting new chapter in elite water polo in Victoria.
The Victorian Seals women’s squad provides a great blend of youth and experience. It will be led by the best and most recognisable player in the NWPL competition, London 2012 Olympic Bronze Medallist and 2013 FINA World Championship Silver Medallist Rowena Webster, who recently polled amongst the world’s top five female water polo athletes in FINA’s Athletes of the Year 2013 poll.
The Victorian Seals men’s team boasts a number of Australian senior and junior national players including Blake Edwards, Lachlan Edwards and Matthew Perrott, two time Olympian James Stanton. The Victorian born, University of California Santa Barbara Men’s Team Captain, Matthew Gronow, also returns to Victoria to compliment the squad.
The playing squad, coaching staff and committee are excited for the upcoming 2015 NWPL Season.
